The institution sponsoring all laboratory research is the University of Hawai'i (Manoa campus). The faculty participating in the program are associated with the Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology Graduate Program. They are from various programs, the Hawaii Institute for Marine Biology and the Pacific Biosciences Research Center.

Locations for research projects include the laboratories of many faculty in the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus, the Lyon Arboretum, the Kewalo Marine Laboratory, the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology, as well as many wild areas and urban field sites.
