Recommendations for Poster Format and Submission:
| Computer: |
Please indicate the type of computer (PC or Mac) used to create the poster when you submit your request. |
| Software: |
The most common software used to create posters is Microsoft Powerpoint. If you use other software, upload the original file as well as an Acrobat PDF. |
| Size: |
The maximum printable short-edge length is 40" (the paper rolls are
42" wide). Posters printed using this length will have a 1" margin on
each side. The maximum long-edge length is 54". If you require a
longer poster, contact Stanford. |
| Fonts: |
Use standard fonts like Helvetica, Arial, or Times Roman. The suggested minimum font size is 24 pt. |
| Background: |
Uniform background colors only! No graded background, no background picture, no color transparency. If you absolutely need one of these effects, contact Stanford. |
| Colors: |
Printer colors do not necessarily match colors on your screen. Blues (royal blue in particular) will print as purple. If you need to use blue, then choose a custom color and use the following setting: red=0, green=102, blue=202. |
Basic Guidlines and Tips:
- Graphic Resolution: Pictures and graphs will look pixilated when they are expanded. To see if your graphics will be pixilated when the poster is printed, zoom in and view your poster at 100%.
- Avoid Errors: Proof your poster before submitting it for printing! Print a copy of your poster using the "fit to page size" option and check for spelling, grammar, alignment, layout, font sizes, etc. You may find layout issues in the printout that you won't see on the screen.
- Poster Size: The maximum poster size in Powerpoint is 40" x 54". This is set by using File -> Page Setup menu. Select custom in the "slides sized for" option. The slide orientation should be Landscape.
- Draft Printing: We will not print draft copies of your poster. The printing process is time-consuming and the materials are expensive. Please submit final material only.
- Poster Submission: Completed files should not be e-mailed. Please utilize PBRC's poster upload web page at:
Alternatively, you can deliver the poster file in person at PBRC using a CD-ROM disk or USB drive.
- Advanced Notice: Ample advanced notice of intent to print posters is highly recommended. Poster printing is most often done for many individuals who will be attending the same meeting or conference. Letting us know your intentions will help us with scheduling printer time. We cannot guarantee that we will always have the time to print all submitted jobs -- posters are printed on a first-come, first-served basis. If we are not able to print the file you submit we will notify you as quickly as possible to allow time for you to find an alternative printer.
- Logos: High-resolution University, JABSOM and PBRC logos that are suitable for inclusion in your posters are available at:
