Zeiss PALM Laser Microdissection
and Optical Tweezers Combi-System

This instrument allows for laser microdissection
and contact-free micromanipulation
with laser optical
trapping.
The microdissection system utilizes
an ultraviolet laser focused through
an objective lens for precise dissection
and catapulting of selected
areas,
suitable for selecting cells or portions
of tissues for PCR of other applications.
The optical trapping system uses an
infrared laser to trap and move small
objects within an area defined by objective
lenses.
The Zeiss PALM Combi-system was acquired
with funding from the National Science
Foundation under Grant No. DBI-0723291
and additional funds provided by the
Dean of the College of Natural Sciences
and the Vice Chancellor for Research
and Graduate Education of the University
of Hawai'i at Manoa. |
