| A portion of the macronucleus containing heterochromatin bodies and nucleoli (no). Ribosome-like precursors can be seen at the margins of the nucleoli. Some ribosomes are bound to the outer membrane of the nuclear envelope (arrows) but not to the inner membrane. EM taken on 6/11/69 by R. Allen with Philips 300 TEM. Neg. 23,200X. Bar = 0.5µm. |
