One important function of the filamentous reticulum is to provide for
the anchorage of cytopharyngeal microtubular (cp mt) ribbons
along the left lip of the cytopharynx. This micrograph shows two
ribbons arising out of the reticulum and shows that discoidal vesicles
(disc) are transported up to this reticulum and to the
fingerlike extensions of the alveoli (al) that traverse through
this edge to get to the cytostomal cord. The accessory microtubular
ribbons composed of 4-7 microtubules arising from the dorsal edge of
the quadrulus are seen to the left of the micrograph. Although
abutting the ends of the cytopharyngeal ribbons they are not
continuous with these latter microtubules. EM taken on 4/4/74 by R.
