The striated band in a quick-freeze deep-etch preparation inserts at
both ends into the slopes of the pellicular ridges. The fractured
basal bodies show knife marks where the blade used to fracture the
cell smeared the basal bodies as it fractured through the frozen cell.
The fracture face of the inner alveolar membrane (iam) has a
large number of IMPs. The granulo-fibrillar material (gf) in
the ridge tips can also be viewed. ps, parasomal sacs;
